Program Introduction
This is a foundation program capturing the basics of sound engineering over a period of 12 months. It covers 4 broad aspects: 1. The Nature and Behaviour of Sound; 2. Recording Studio Operations and Signal Flow; 3. Digital Audio Workstation (Pro Tools); 4. Mixing and Mastering. Each section builds on previous knowledge and skills. All practical sessions are conducted at TSM Studio, which gives the students significant exposure to current commercial activity prevalent in the media and entertainment industry.
The program uses industry-standard and current equipment, including the latest Apple computers, professional studio hardware and software, and various plug-ins from industry partners. Students learn to handle all of the above in a world-class environment. The program emphasises practical skills, with dedicated lectures and independent work using all available resources. Students also get a Pro Tools Specialist Certification, which is the world standard and accepted globally.
